Waterborne Illnesses Related To Contaminated Pool Water
Our pools are exposed water bodies and therefore subject to contamination. Pollution can be in the pool water from the environment (ex: wind, rain) or from swimmers.
There was a dramatic increase in infections and infectious diseases in home swimming pools in recent years. Some strains of bacteria and viruses have developed resistance to chlorine as a disinfectant we use in our pools. Others are destroyed very slowly.
