do you prefer Pampers or Huggies brand diapers?
i'm expecting my first child and i'm not quite sure. i was working on my baby registry and my mom suggested i add a few cases of diapers because in her words "you can never have too many diapers" lol
anyways i'm torn between these brands.
plus i heard something about pampers giving babies rashes?

Up until my daughter was 6 months old, I really preferred Pampers Swaddlers. I had tried Huggies Little Snugglers but wasn't crazy over them. For being a diaper for newborn and smaller babies, they weren't very soft, and didn't seem to fit my daughter very well. I experienced a lot of diaper blow outs with Huggies. I tried the Huggies Pure and Natural at one point. I have to admit, I liked how they felt much better than the regular Huggies, but still, the issue with the blowouts remained. The Pampers Swaddlers were the only ones my daughter didn't have messes in. We never had a problem with rashes with either brand.
It really does have everything to do with how your baby is shaped. My general thought based on seeing other babies using each brand and talking to other mothers is that Pampers fits a baby who might be on the smallish side, long, and/or skinnyish. My daughter has always been petite, but very solid despite not having much "baby fat" or chubby rolls. I have a friend with a baby 3 months older than my daughter, and was short and very "rolly" (he's since slimmed out). In the beginning, the only diaper HE could use was Huggies, when he was chubby. Now that he's slimmed, he can only use Pampers.
At this point I only use disposables at nighttime as I've been cloth diapering since she was 6 months old, but I still prefer Pampers Swaddlers when I do use them.
The Pampers that have been giving babies rashes seems to be only affecting *some* babies. It's the ones that specify that they're the "new with DryMax" ones. You will see this on Pampers Cruisers and Swaddlers (my daughter has still not had a rash issue). Some babies are just more sensitive than others. If you want to avoid the issue altogether, the Pampers Baby Dry diapers do not have this new "Dry Max" addition.
Again, it depends entirely on the shape of your baby, what brand you choose to go with. Try buying 2 packages of one brand and 2 packages of another. That will give you enough chance to decide which one you'd prefer. I wouldn't put diapers on your registry, but it's a good idea to mention that gift cards to the store would be great for when you do decide to go with a certain brand. Personally, was given Wal Mart brand Parent's choice diapers at my baby shower and I returned them immediately. That was my choice, but your baby may even work best in those diapers, you'll never know!
